Aitutaki Lagoon Cruises & Private Charters

With Silent One Lagoon Charters

Welcome to Silent One Lagoon Charters

The name Silent One comes from the 1984 New Zealand film The Silent One, which was filmed right here on the beautiful island of Aitutaki. The story follows a mute boy and a turtle, and as a special connection to the film, I, Captain Ki, was one of the babies featured in the movie.

We are a family-owned and operated business, born and raised on Aitutaki, with a lifetime of local knowledge and a deep passion for sharing our island paradise. Silent One Lagoon Charters was established in 2012. After operating successfully, our young family moved overseas. We returned for a period in 2016, and now, having returned home permanently in 2025, we are excited to once again share our culture, hospitality, and the breathtaking beauty of Aitutaki Lagoon with visitors from around the world.

Join us for a day to remember as we explore some of Aitutaki's most spectacular locations and experiences, including: - Turtle watching - Snorkeling at amazing lagoon sites -Swimming with giant trevally and feeding colorful tropical fish

Exploring the stunning islands of: • Honeymoon Island • One Foot Island • Motu Rakau • Akaiami Island

Come and experience the magic of Aitutaki Lagoon with a local family who knows and loves it best. We look forward to welcoming you aboard and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Kia Orana and see you soon!

What Our Customers Say

Highlight of the trip!

Nov 2025 *****

Unforgettable experience out on the water (and in it) with Captain Ki, and his deckhand, who both took good care of us, who gave us flexibility to go where we wanted at our own pace.We snorkelled to see purple coral, giant clams, and giant trevalli that swim right up to you. We visited one foot island to see world’s most remote post office, and have another swim.Ki shared stories about the history of the surrounding islands and about the coral route sea plane that would stop before going on to Tahiti, showing us jetty ruins of where it would be parked up.All in all, we had a great time with amazing and friendly hosts, and would recommend to anyone. All capped off with an amazing lunch on a pontoon with spread of fruit, sandwiches, cake, and coconut water to wash it down. Thanks very much for the hospitality, and also taking photos and underwater videos for us!

Amazing Lagoon Experience

Nov 2025 *****

Thoroughly enjoyed our time with Captain Ki! Appreciated that he was willing to postpone our reservation because of bad weather. Enjoyed the snorkeling, the story telling, and most of all the incredibly large and delicious lunch! We look forward to booking again with Captain Ki on our next trip to Aitutaki.

Awesome Experience

Nov 2025 *****

Think no longer! It is without a doubt a great experience going with Ki on a private lagoon tour. He really takes great care of you and he tailors the tour so that it suits your wishes best. He is a fun guy to be around and makes you enjoy the trip in every way possible - from storytelling to safety and more. Just tell him what you expect and he will try to make it work. Giant Clams, Corrals, the shipwreck, Turtles, Giant Travelly, island hopping, ... it's up to you and how much time you want to spend. Depending on his bookings he was also flexible with us, so you can chose between half-day, full-day or something in between. I would recommend Ki easily over any of the big lagoon tours, expect for you like the company of a couple of dozen people around you while snorkeling. Walking across the sandbank on our own was a once in a lifetime experience. The word PRIVATE is in capitals with the Silent One! Lunch was tasty, pickup and everything around also 100%. Thank you very much, Captain Ki and Lovey!

Simply the Best Day Out

Oct 2025 *****

One of the best days out ever. Ki is an amazing skipper whose goal is to provide you with the experience you want. He took us to the island where the Coral Route planes used to land to a snorkeling spot other tours miss and then to top it off an unexpected picnic, he supplied, in the middle of the lagoon amidst the GTs. We were so not expecting this. Throughout our trip Ki tools is the stories of his people. My cup is full.

I looked at tons of options before booking a cruise with Captain Ki and Silent One Lagoon Charters. After a perfect day on the lagoon with Ki, myself and my girlfriend, I am even more confident this was the best charter I could have asked for. The best part of having a private charter is the flexibility to go at your own pace and to visit areas of the lagoon solo when there aren't any of the bigger cruises around. Ki was also super helpful in making us feel comfortable in the water and making sure we had all the experiences we wanted. We will book again with Captain Ki whenever we find ourselves in Aitutaki. This is definitely a do-not-miss adventure. Visited May 2017
